Happy Friday Hilltoppers!

Well, this is our student’s last official day of summer before school begins on Monday.  Our entire staff has just completed three fantastic days of in-service in preparation for the start of the year.  I am very proud of the excitement and readiness of our teachers and support staff as students prepare to hit the hallways next week.

When our students return, I want to remind all stakeholders that we are under a mask mandate as approved by our Board of Education at the August Board meeting.  All students, staff members, and visitors must wear masks while in an indoor setting on school grounds.  This includes in our offices, hallways, classrooms and athletic facilities.  The appropriate wearing of masks in schools, along with at least 3 feet of social distance will reduce almost any chance that any quarantines will be necessary from contact with a positive testing person on school grounds.  This is very promising to the district as we recognize it is within our power to have full days of school with all of our students.

Students who do not have masks will be given masks on the bus and/or at school when they arrive.  The district will be working to develop practices that allow for mask breaks and adequate social distancing, as well as thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the school facilities.

We will work to first support students who refuse to wear masks, but prolonged refusal to wear masks will result in the student being sent home from school until masks are appropriately worn while indoors in school facilities.  We will work with families as well as students to ensure all needs are being met.

Your Board of Education, administration, teachers and staff ask for your support in making this an improved and successful school year for all of our students!  We commit to you to give our best effort and care for your students.

Thank you for your continued support and know that we are poised to have an outstanding school year on the Hilltop!  Enjoy the last weekend of summer.

Respectfully,

Fred Lamkey, Mt. Pulaski Superintendent
