Maggie Doherty, daughter of Chris and Amanda Doherty, has been named October-Senior-of-the-Month at Mount Pulaski High School.
Maggie has been actively involved in extracurricular activities during her time at MPHS. For 4 years she has been a member of Art Club, serving as President for 2 years and Vice President for 1 year. She has also been a member of the Scholastic Bowl team for 4 years, serving as varsity captain for 2 years. She has participated in Drama Club and Student Council for 3 years, NHS for 2 years, currently serving as Vice President, and Science Olympiad for 1 year.
Maggie has also received numerous recognitions. She was an Art Show winner grades 9-11, the October Art Student of the Month for Gallery 510 in Decatur, was the All Conference High Scorer for Scholastic Bowl her Junior year, was a 3rd place medalist for Forestry in Science Olympiad her Sophomore year. During her Junior year she was included in the Central Illinois High School Art Exhibit at Millikin University and was the Voice of Democracy contest winner. Maggie has also been on High Honors throughout high school.
Outside of school, Maggie has volunteered at the Mt. Pulaski Public Library for the Holiday meals, Grinchmas, and Summer Reading Story times. She has also helped with the Halloween Food Drive, the Lincoln Farmer’s Market, Refuge Ranch, and Christmas on Vinegar hill.
Maggie plans to attend college and pursue a degree in education to teach high school History.
