Daniel Phillips, son of Derek Phillips of Mt. Pulaski, has been named December-Senior-of-the-month at Mount Pulaski High School. He was selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

            During his time at MPHS, he has been a member of the Soccer and Track teams and Student Council for 4 years. He also has participated in Science Olympiad for 3 years, Academic Challenge, Spanish Club, and NHS for 2 years, And Art Club for 1 year. He also played indoor Soccer and Track for 1 year.

            Daniel has been named Health, Advanced Chemistry, and Advanced Biology Student of the Year. For Soccer he has earned the Pineapple Award, Defensive Player of the year for 2 years, and the Four Year Award.

            Outside of school, Daniel worked as Lifeguard for 2 summers. He also made Christmas cards for the residents at Vonderlieth, did trick or treating for canned goods, worked the state basketball game, helped serve meals for the booster club, and worked Christmas on Vinegar Hill.

            Daniel plans to attend the University of Illinois at Springfield in the fall and complete the Medical Lab Science program and become a Scientist.    

The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Conaway Handyman Service and Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc.. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by INB.
