Ethan Payne, son of Michael and Krissy Mercer and Jody and Darrel Krimmel, has been named January-Senior-of-the-month at Mount Pulaski High School. He was selected for this honor based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
Ethan has been a 3 sport athlete all 4 years of high school, participating in Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball. He has also participated in Spanish Club for 4 years, Academic Challenge for 3 years, Science Olympiad and NHS for 2 years, Student Council and Class Vice President, FFA, and FCCLA for 1 year. Outside of school, Ethan has also been a member of Youth Group for 4 years.
Ethan has been on Honor Roll for 4 years at MPHS. He also was named Algebra 2 and US History student of the year.
Ethan has performed various community service projects also. He has donated blood, helped with Christmas on Vinegar Hill, monitored the bounce house during Fall Fest, collected food for Zion’s food pantry, helped set up for Homecoming, and wrote Christmas cards for the residents at Vonderlieth. Ethan has also worked as a custodian over the summer at MPHS and MPGS.
Ethan plans to attend Lincoln Land Community College and then transfer to a 4 year university to major in either business or sports medicine.
