A really well-done collection of Day of the Dead ofrendas! Students selected fictional characters who’ve passed and, in keeping with Latino tradition, created ofrendas to entice them to return and visit us on Nov 2nd. These are the ones they voted as most detailed and authentic. All were VERY good!!
Nutrition & Culinary Arts made homemade pizza today and it was delicious. MP Pizzaria coming soon?
As a reminder, the high school costume contest (for those students interested in participating) will occur in 8th hour study hall tomorrow. You must adhere to the following guidelines:
1) No weapons of any kind are permitted (no fake swords, guns, bow/arrow, etc.). Don't bring them to school.
2) You must follow the dress code and be completely covered from armpit to the 3 inch inseam. No bare bellies, etc.
3) No masks during the school day. Masks must be stowed in lockers. The mask may be put on for the contest once you arrive in the main gym.
4) There will be no break to get changed in a restroom, etc. You will take whatever you need from your locker to your study hall. You will be released from study hall around 2:45 p.m. (no earlier) to go down to the contest in the main gym. If your costume requires elaborate preparation time, then choose something else to wear tomorrow. You will not be excused from 7th hour to prepare for the contest.
If you have specific questions about your costume, email me tonight. When in doubt, err on the side of caution. If you think it's questionable, then you should probably make another choice and save that costume for your trick-or-treating.
See you all tomorrow for a spooktacular event!
FCCLA's Decorated Pumpkin Contest had some outstanding entries this year. The top three finishers were:

At 1:03 p.m. today the fire alarm sounded and the building was evacuated. As it was raining, students were moved into the back shed for roll call. Students remained in the shed with faculty supervision until the fire department cleared the building for re-entry. At this time, the alarm has been attributed to a faulty sensor on the roof. All students are safe and back in class at this time.
If you have questions, please contact the office at 217-792-3209.

The High School NFHS camera is down. Here is the update from NFHS support:
We discovered why your Pixellot system is not working and wanted to explain what’s happening.
What happened?
On Sunday night, Pixellot installed new “firmware” on the camera head (“firmware” is basically the software that operates the machinery within the camera head).
Before this firmware update was installed, it went through our standard rigorous testing protocol; however, we have discovered a bug that was not surfaced during our testing process. That bug is affecting your camera head, and as a result the camera head is now no longer able to “communicate” with the Pixellot computer.
This is not something that we – or Pixellot – has ever experienced in the 7 years that we have been working together.
What are we doing?
Pixellot and the camera manufacturer have been working around the clock on a solution on how to remedy this situation, but it is necessary for us to physically replace the camera head of your affected system(s). We will do so as quickly as possible.
An important message from our friends at Chestnut Health Systems.
