The Academic Challenge Team finished 4th Place at the Sectional! Individually, David Ruhl is the 2023 Sectional Champion in Engineering Graphics! In addition, David Ruhl & Lily Woodworth were 4th in Computer Science, Tanner Bishop was 5th in Engineering Graphics, and Colt Selinger was 5th in Math & 7th in English (out of about 45 entries in each of these subjects). The top 2 advance to State in each Individual subject. Congratulations to each of you on the Team accomplishment. Big Congratulations to David for qualifying for the State round!

The Post Prom Parent Committee is accepting donations for prizes and gifts for the Post Prom Event. To help them out, MPHS will be a drop-off location for any community member interested in making a personal donation. Favorite items in the past have included: televisions and mini-fridges for dorm rooms, technology (earbuds/air tags/Alexa), and gift cards (gas, restaurants, shopping, Amazon). Donations may be dropped at the high school office on school days or mailed to: Post Prom c/o MPHS 206 S. Spring Street Mount Pulaski, IL 62548 Prizes are handed out at the end of the event to encourage students to stay for the entire event in a fun, drug-free/alcohol-free location. Here's an available Scholarship for all high school students in Illinois. Submissions are due on June 1, 2023. This information can also be found at http://www.illinoispsychiatricsociety.org/events-awardscarl-bell-award. The award recipient will receive a $500 cash prize. Their submission will also be presented at the 2023 IPS Annual Meeting and published in “Mind Matters,” the official IPS newsletter publication. This year’s essay topic: What does mental health mean to you and/ or your peers or community and do you feel mental health has been affected by societal factors i.e., healthcare inequity, community violence, post-pandemic anxiety, isolation, or racial injustice. Papers will be judged on originality, relevance to the assigned question, punctuation, spelling, thoughtfulness, creativity, and use of references. It is preferred for the papers to be typed but neat handwriting accepted. The paper should be no more than 400-600 words maximum, double-spaced, and font size 12. Submissions must also include the following: author’s full name, address, contact email address and/or phone number, age, grade, school district, and name of school they attend. Courthouse Iron Statue Fundraiser at Mount Pulaski High School MPHS students will have an opportunity to help the Courthouse raise funds for the life-size cast iron sculpture of Abraham Lincoln that will grace the Courthouse lawn. The following activities will occur during this week! Tuesday, February, 28, 2023: Caps for a Cause - Students pay $1 in the cafeteria before school to wear a hat all day. The hat must have a specific sticker on it (which will be distributed in the morning) to be worn during school. Wednesday, March 1, 2023: No Run Wednesday - Students pay $5 at the start of their PE hour to get out of running that day. Thursday, March 2, 2023: Pajama Day - Students pay $1 in the cafeteria before school to wear pajamas all day. The pajamas must have the distributed sticker on them to be worn during school. Friday, March 3, 2023: Tape Our School Resource Officer to the Wall Day - Students who have $1 to participate will pay before school in the cafeteria. During study hall, participating students will meet back in the cafeteria to tape our School Resource Officer, Josh Pharis, to the wall.
