Art and Spanish students visited Little Village, Pilsen and Chicago last week for an adventure in all things art and culture! It was a beauty day to explore the Hispanic villages, their food and mural art. A quick bus ride to the city allowed them to then explore the incredibly world renowned works in the Art Institute. The trip ended with a stop at Cloud Gate (aka the bean)and of course a stop at Wally's famous truck stop!
Spanish Club hosted a Mexican Day of the Dead food tasting event last week with traditional bread, skull cookies and agua frescas with unique fruit flavors.
In honor of Mexico's celebration called Day of the Dead, students in Spanish classes grouped up to honor fictional characters with the making of traditional ofrendas (altars). They did a wonderful job of including traditional details along with their own personal flares to create a colorful collection this year!
Spanish 3 & 4 classes have been learning how to prepare authentic Spanish dishes this semester.
First was paella: the National dish of Spain.
Our second day of cooking highlighted Spanish tapas: small dishes!
