Three Toppers in the Top Five; Season Low 9-Hole Score; Personal Bests The Toppers hosted Illini Central and Midwest Central at North Greens Golf Course this afternoon. Three Toppers placed in the top 5 and the team posted a season low 9-hole score of 183, but unfortunately, Midwest Central came in with a 182 to win the triangular meet by one stroke. Illini Central finished with a score of 188. Zach Highland of MWC took medalist honors with a 37, but the Topper golfers brought their A games today as Aaron Kuznik, Carter Clark, and Franklin Wade all placed in the top 5 with season and personal best scores. After achieving a personal goal of shooting in the 70’s for 18 holes on Monday, Aaron followed up by achieving another personal goal of breaking into the 30’s for 9 holes by shooting an outstanding score of 39 and 2nd place finish. Great score, Aaron! Having his sights on scoring below 45, Carter did just that in stellar fashion by starting with a birdie on the first hole and finishing with an all-time personal best score of 41, and a 3rd place finish overall. Congratulations Carter! No one works harder at his game on a daily basis than Franklin, and today he was rewarded by shooting his 9 hole season best score of 44, and finishing 5th overall. Great job, Franklin. Kai Selinger and Tyler Lowe both shot 59, tying for the fourth team score needed for our season low score of 183. Way to go, guys. Deegan Tschantz shot a 61 which included several drives nearing a distance of 280 yards. Good job, Deegan. The Topper golfers will head to Country Hills GC in Greenview on Tuesday for a quadrangular match, and then finish the regular season with an 18-hole tournament on Saturday at Shambolee Golf Course in Petersburg. This team is more and more exciting to watch as they have continued to improve throughout the season. Looking for good things to happen over the next two weeks.

The increased volume of students needing picked up at the end of the day has created some bottlenecks on intersections in the front of our building, causing issues for the busses to make their turns. This attached video demonstrates the new pick-up procedure at MPHS: https://youtu.be/KRJQw0TNCw8

Hilltopper Golf News Aaron Kuznik Captures 2nd Place in Conference; Team Places 3rd; New Season Low Team Score! It was quite a day for the Topper Golfers at the Tomahawk Conference Tournament at Pekin Sunset Hills GC highlighted by Aaron Kuznik’s 2nd place individual finish, the Team’s 3rd place finish, and a new season team low score of 370. Kuznik’s personal best score of 79 was just one shot behind medalist Crew Fortin from Illini Bluffs. Aaron received recognition and a medal for his 2nd place finish. Aaron shot a 41 on the front nine and a blistering 38 on the back nine which included back-to-back birdies on the par 5 10th and par 4 11th holes. Overall, Aaron finished with 8 pars and 2 birdies on the day. A round in the 70’s is absolutely outstanding. Congratulations Aaron, well done! The team’s new season low score of 370 (previously 389) led to a 3rd place finish for the Hilltopper’s. Way to go guys! Franklin Wade turned in the second lowest score with an 89 to stay in the 80’s once again. His round included two solid 9-hole scores of 45 and 44. Carter Clark was not far behind with a score of 92. Carter continues his consistent play as he carded a 45 and 47 on the front and back nine. The fourth score for the Toppers team total came from Kai Selinger who was playing in his first 18-hole tournament. Kai’s personal best score 110 included 1 par and 5 bogies. Great job, Kai! Tyler Lowe shot a new personal best score of 112. Way to go, Tyler! Deegan Tschantz showed great determination as he played through pain and shot 126. Good job, Deegan! The Toppers will play in our last home match this Thursday at North Greens with an early 3:30 start. Let’s go Toppers! Keep up the good work!!

Mt. Pulaski CUSD Community: This is a critical notification to bring our school community up to speed regarding school safety issues in Macon County. There were reports of social media pictures on Snapchat involving threats to schools in Macon County. The Decatur Police Department has made two arrests related to the incident, per their press release below. The ages of the students involved were 11 and 14 years of age! The police department acted immediately due to the fast reporting of the incident. I strongly recommend that you and your students ALWAYS report suspicious activity of any kind, even online activity. We use the phrase "if you see something, say something", as safety is always at the forefront of our thoughts. Again, we have an everyday presence in our school between our Mount Pulaski Police Department and the Logan County Police Department to contiuously improve the quality of our relationships between students and staff. This is due to our commitment and philosophy of safety, which is always our number one priority! Thank you for your attention to detail and commitment to Mount Pulaski Schools. It's always a better day on the Hilltop! Respectfully, Jason Spang, Superintendent of Schools

The Topper Golfers were back in action today at North Greens GC versus Tremont. Tremont came away with a 176-190 victory led by medalist Griffin Meeker’s one over par 37. Aaron Kuznik continues to shoot well for the Toppers carding a 40 for his best 9-hole round this season and a 2nd place finish. Aaron had one birdie on the day and several other opportunities that narrowly missed. Needing a par on the 9th hole to break into the 30’s for the first time this season, a little too much adrenaline on his approach took him just off the back of the green with a difficult short downhill chip. Though he wanted the 39, his score of 40 was certainly impressive and worthy of applause. Great round, Aaron! Carter Clark’s solid round or 46 was the 2nd best score for the Hilltoppers and 4th place overall for the match. Carter was able to string together three pars and two bogeys over a 5-hole stretch, but unfortunately struggled over the last three holes. Scoring in the low 40’s or upper 30’s is well within his reach as he continues to improve with each match. Keep it up, Carter! Franklin Wade was the third Topper to shoot in the 40’s with a score of 49. Franklin started with pars on the first two holes but then ran into trouble with his long and midrange clubs. Extremely proud of the grit and determination that Franklin showed as he fought and battled the rest of the way, and used his short game down the stretch to stay in the 40’s. Great job, Franklin! Kai Selinger rounded out the team scoring with a 55, his best 9-hole round of the season. Kai continues to improve daily gaining consistency with his woods and irons, and gaining confidence with his putting. Kai’s positive attitude, self-motivation, and willingness to try new things has certainly made him the most improved player this year! Deegan Tschantz shot another solid round in the 50’s highlighted by an amazing bogey on the par 3 8th-hole. After unfortunately hitting a ball into the water on the tee shot, Deegan stuck his shot from the drop zone tight to the pin and sank the putt. His reaction, in classic Deegan fashion was, “I finally made a putt”. Gotta love Deegan! Tyler Lowe played in the 6 position for the Toppers today and shot 62. Tyler also continues to improve as he had five solid holes today. Good job, Tyler. As he continues to focus on his short game, Tyler should break into the 50’s very soon. Next week the Toppers will play in the 18-hole Tomahawk Conference Tournament at Pekin Sunset Hills GC on Monday, and then will be back home at North Greens GC at 3:30 on Wednesday. Great job guys, keep up the good work!
